Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kidepo Valley national park Breakfast will be provided early morning by the hosts at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. You’ll meet, greet and get a briefing from your safari guide and then set off at 6:00am through Luwero, Masindi and stopover for lunch in Gulu, then proceed to Kidepo arriving there in the evening. Check into your lodge for dinner and overnight. Accommodation options: Apoka Safari Lodge (Luxury), Kidepo Savannah Lodge (Midrange) Apoka Bandas (Budget) Day 2: Morning and Evening game drive around Kidepo After having breakfast, you will go for a morning game that will expose you to the park’s wildlife including elephants, buffaloes, zebras, Uganda kobs, elands, giraffes to mention but a few. Lions, hyena, Rock hyrax and cheetah can also be sighted. You will enjoy the beautiful views of the vast plains and the Narus valley on the southwestern side of the park. After the 4-5 hours game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch, have a little relaxation and go for the second game drive to look out for animals that you could have missed. One more chance to see herds of elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs and zebras plus birds such as ostriches. An option for the seeing game drive is visiting the Kanangorok Hot Springs. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. Day 3: Karamajong cultural tour After breakfast, you will go for a guided nature walk to feel the wilderness even more when you get closer to the wildlife and the scenic landscapes. Enjoy the views of the plains and mountains at a distance, then return to the lodge for lunch and head out for a cultural tour in the Karamojong community near the park. This is an enjoyable opportunity to spend some time with the Karamonjongs who have a similar kind of lifestyle as the Masai in Kenya and Tanzania. You will see how they live in homesteads known as the manyatta, together with their animals and then they will also entertain you with their cultural dance. Return to the lodge for the overnight. Day 4: Return to Kampala Rise up early, have breakfast and check out, then embark on the return journey to Kampala. You will have an en-route lunch and arrive in Kampala or Entebbe late evening.
